The move from Java to Ruby has gone well. They say the best way to learn a foreign language is through “immersion,” i.e. going to a country where they speak that language and completely immersing yourself in that language and culture. What can I say, I had done a little bit of Ruby before starting the job where I work now, but I *really* learned Ruby through total immersion. I was a little freaked out for about a month but just like any code I’ve written, I look back on what I did a year ago and wonder “what was I thinking?” and see how far I’ve come.
